I want you to take a moment to imagine nothing.

Don't bother closing your eyes. Darkness is still a thing and light is its opposite, and your mind will fill in that void with memories or thoughts, anyway.

No, I want you truly to empty your mind and drown out external stimuli. Forget everything. There is no sight. No sound. No smell. No taste. No touch. There is no sense of forward or back. No up, no down. No right or left.

There is no ground beneath your feet or a sky above your head. There is no air for you to breathe nor any that you could poison. Gravity can neither crush you nor pull you apart because such a thing does not exist.

You have likely been taught that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, only transferred from one source to another. But if there are no sources, from where does that energy come? And where does it go?

That, my Acolytes, is what predates and exists outside of all creation.

That is what we who know refer to as, for lack of a better term, The One Before.

The story of our universe begins as all do.

With nothing.
