Tales From The Cosmos
40. Brain Food

From the moon of a gas giant to a gas giant itself. As I have told you, Qlanik, a being of great wisdom, had chosen a purple one named Ipómatus (Infinity), so named for the path it took when orbiting its two suns. Were it made from Earth and Rock, then there would always be a time when Odic had no presence. However, no light can reach beneath its atmosphere, so much of the life within has either incredibly large eyes or no eyes at all.
Qlanik's people, the Miislac (Thinkers), fell into the latter. Their bodies were light and transparent with tendrils in place of limbs and senses. It was how they interacted with their world, how they spoke to each other and to their creator. Each day, they would cling to his long silver locks, receiving the tiny bits of knowledge about the universe outside, the war between the Udumuan forces and the forces of Sevaasi, and most importantly, the word of Da Vaada.
However, it was only for a short time, and they would have to release him so that they could meditate on their knowledge as they lived their lives. This was to stop them from knowing too much at one time.
Too much knowledge is painful. I can attest.
But the Miislac wanted to know more, and soon they refused to release him. In doing so, they ate too much and made their bodies heavier and almost gelatinous, until they fell deeper into the planet.
Qlanik's long locks can still reach them, but now they are agonising to the touch. As a result, the Miislac keep their distance. But there are those few who still approach, who still cling to them when feeding time comes, enduring the pain.
In doing so, they remain close to their creator and grow closer to THE Creator.
