Beyond The Firmament
Tales From The Cosmos
47. Rage
- Written by Gift C Enyadike Jr
Diohlatas and Fari returned to what had once been the Chiliad Front, where they had been confined to fight that monstrosity Sevaasi created. No, that Da Vaada allowed to be created. The same beast they could still hear within the confines of Kurisstac, drowning out the celebratory songs of the hosts beyond the Umtlik's wall of silence.
That very same Kurisstac was inhabited by Da Vaada's so-called kin, Grubass and Soragna. They, too, were allowed to exist and wreak havoc once. Just as the Jarwan worlds were allowed to exist and their peoples allowed to defile and desecrate the Jarwa themselves, only to be forgiven. Just as the humans, his so-called children, so-called inheritors, were allowed to murder the true child, the true Son, and be forgiven.
These were the thoughts of the Arbiter. Not of the Titaness. For she had no thoughts. She was a black void with embers now, and he saw this.
"Why follow me?"
"Bring you back. I promised the Father."
"Go, I will not."
"We have to... I promised."
Like the "promised land" He had given to the descendants of that cowardly liar, Abraham, led by that arrogant fool Moses.
Was it not on that same land that His Son, given flesh and tainted through the line of that adulterer David, was killed? Slaughtered like a beast?
For a promise?
A promise to be allowed to enter Udamu with no account for their misdeeds?
All by the will of Da Vaada?
"I will not go back."
The Titaness' embers smouldered.
"I'll bring you. I promised-"
"No different, you are. Like the mortals, an aberration you are, that He forgave."
Now, they were gone. For his words had wounded her more than any Paadlan could ever dream.
"Avenger... Why?"
"Do you remember your birth? The progenitors, Light and Heat, their sinful union which brought death to the stars."
"I was forgiven... You... You embraced me."
"Now, empower you, I will, as I had done for them."
"What do you mean?"
"Feel it, you do. The grief, the sorrow, the rage. The injustice!"
She tried to speak, but she could not, because she was burning again. Yet, there was no radiance, no white light.
"Take them, the mortals, as you took the stars. First from the Princes, then from the Evil One and then from the Father! That is justice!"
Once again, the cosmos shook as the Titaness, Fari, now simply Hasira, let out a roar that completely drowned out the thousand Paadlan who embodied Yenaati and pushed back against the Umtlik in a way it never could.
She was as she once was, black, blind and devouring, and as far as Diohlatas could see, unstoppable.
