55. The Fatal Paradise | Beyond the Firmament: Tales From the Cosmos

Beyond The Firmament

Tales From The Cosmos

55. The Fatal Paradise

- Written by Gift C Enyadike Jr

We are fast approaching the moment that... I have been waiting for my Acolytes. The birth of my people, the Ta'iwa'u (Prodigials), so named for our great size and strength. You must not let my voice fool you, humans. By your imperial measurements, I am roughly 10 feet tall. Though I will keep my weight to myself, thank you very much.

You might be wondering why. There were several reasons, the first of which was necessity.

You see, the first thing Fari Hasira did upon entering the solar system was touch down on her new world. It was at this moment that she learned that though this planet shared a likeness with Teyra, which was a paradise in its infancy, the life-forms that once inhabited and currently inhabit your world would not survive hers.

The air was too thick, the ground at times too unstable and other times too solid, the gravitational and magnetic forces too strong, the weather too tumultuous and temperamental. And the sounds. They would have driven your kind mad. They would have driven MY kind mad if we had been created at that moment.

This world was a beast in its own right, not unlike herself. But when she silenced it and studied it, it was beautiful.

And so, this world would be called Mork Adi'a to represent that duality. In my home language, called Da'ila'u, which itself is derived from a minuscule number of yours, the word Mork means "Fatal", and Adi'a means "Paradise".

For simplicity's sake, you may call it Morcadia.
