Beyond The Firmament

Tales From The Cosmos

56. The Prodigials

- Written by Gift C Enyadike Jr

I have spoken in bits and pieces about my people during our time together, and now I will introduce you to them- sorry, us in full- but first, a clarification. Yes, I am 10 feet tall or 3.04 metres in your metric units (Respect the decimals!), but I am an exception for reasons we will get into... later.

The average height for my kind is, in your imperial measurements, well over 7 feet (2.14 metres), with a lifespan that should be little over 100 years; the absolute elite reaching 150 years of age and over 9 feet (2.74 metres) in height. Given our nature, most would never see the age of 60, to give a generous figure.

And what is our nature? Are we not our mothers' children? Born with too much strength and too much anger at everything and nothing at all, to be honed and tempered over the course of our lives?

Indeed, it did not take long for my ancestors to multiply and conquer the planet, along with all the beasts and verdure of the land, the sea and the air, each inspired and adapted from the memories and imaginings of the Farharaats who now made up the Titaness' entire being and consciousness.

We, ourselves, are a marriage of her own image and Da Vaada's image through the eyes of men. Those of you who have not seen a Ta'iwa'u would find us quite off-putting to look at. You refer to it as the... uncanny valley, do you not? It is why I wear a hood and a mask of shadow. For your sake. Your comfort. You're welcome.

And yes, there are quite a few of us on your Teyra, my Acolytes, including myself. Once again, for reasons we will get into... later...
